activity:<\/strong> Microorganisms can initiate corrosion by forming localized cells on the metal corrosion:<\/strong> An equal amount of metal loss occurs across the entire surface.<\/li><li><strong>Pitting corrosion:<\/strong> Forms deep pits in small areas.<\/li><li><strong>Crevice corrosion:<\/strong> Develops locally in flange gaps or bolt areas.<\/li><li><strong>Galvanic corrosion:<\/strong> Occurs when different metals come into contact in the same environment.<\/li><li><strong>Stress corrosion:<\/strong> Cracking occurs due to the combination of mechanical stress and a corrosive environment.<\/li><li><strong>Erosion\/cavitation corrosion:<\/strong> Deformation occurs on the metal surface due to the abrasive effect of the fluid.<\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Material Selection and Corrosion Resistance in Pumps<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>Choosing the right materials is one of the most critical factors determining the lifespan of pumps. Different fluids trigger different types of corrosion.
