Situation
One of our clients, a leading technical component manufacturer in Türkiye, discovered that low-pressure coolant was insufficient for internally cooled drill bits used in CNC machining.
The current system uses low-viscosity oil as a coolant, and because this oil cannot penetrate sufficiently into the interior of the part due to the low pressure, it cannot adequately remove the chips inside the deep hole.

This situation was causing the following problems:

  • Decrease in surface quality of parts.
  • The drill bits used wear out quickly and break down in a short time.
  • Inefficiencies and additional costs in production processes

To address these problems, Arpon's pump solutions were consulted.

Solution
 Arpon recommended Hydra-Cell diaphragm high-pressure pumps for this application.
Thanks to its seal-less design, it provides a long-lasting and low-maintenance solution for corrosive environments.
With its adjustable high-pressure capacity, it enables rapid chip removal, enhancing the performance of internally cooled drill bits.

Thanks to its semi-submersible pump design, it enabled the rapid discharge of wood chips by passing them through the pipe at a pressure of approximately 40 bar.
 The surface quality of the machined parts was improved thanks to the effective penetration of the coolant into the part.
 The company is also continuing its work to use the same technology to increase the lifespan of grinding discs.
