Arpon Solution to Filter Press Pump Problems

“Verderflex: A single solution for challenging fluids, abrasive fluids, and delicate processes .”

Application: Paper Products Manufacturing

Application Details: Filter Press Pump System

Product Group: Peristaltic (Hose) Pumps

Brand: Verderflex

Situation

Our client, a leading paper manufacturer in Türkiye, was facing operational inefficiencies due to frequent failures and high maintenance costs in their filter press pumps.
The company used a monopump (screw pump) in its existing system. These pumps were based on the principle of the rotor and stator, made of rubber material, rubbing against each other to overcome the back pressure of the filter press.

The main problems this system faced were:

  • Due to the abrasive nature of the fluid and the high pressure, the rotor and stator wore out rapidly and needed frequent replacement.
  • Mechanical seal problems required constant maintenance.
  • The cost of spare parts was almost equal to the cost of the complete pump, which created a significant financial burden for the business.
  • Frequent maintenance and breakdowns were increasing production downtime, reducing operational efficiency.
  • The company approached Arpon to address these issues and requested a sustainable solution.

Solution

Arpon engineers recommended the Verderflex peristaltic (hose) type pump as the most efficient and low-maintenance pump solution for this demanding application.
The Verderflex peristaltic pump operates on the hose principle, providing high resistance to corrosive fluids.
The fact that the pump only requires low-cost parts such as hoses and lubricating oil has significantly reduced spare parts costs.
Thanks to its dry-running capability, mechanical seal problems have been completely eliminated.
The filter easily overcame the back pressure of the press, ensuring a more reliable operation.

Benefits

  • Spare parts costs have dropped significantly; hose and oil changes are now sufficient.
  • Operational efficiency was increased by minimizing maintenance processes.
  • Downtime has been significantly reduced, and production has become uninterrupted.
  • The mechanical seal problem was completely eliminated, increasing the system's reliability.
  • A long-lasting, cost-effective, and durable pump solution has been provided.

As of today, our customer's Verderflex peristaltic pump is operating at full capacity on their production line, and the operations team is very satisfied with the savings and operational efficiency achieved.
