Coolant Conditioning for Units 1 & 2

Situation

Our client, Türkiye's largest integrated flat steel producer, required a chemical conditioning system to improve the quality of the cooling water used in its Continuous Casting lines 1 and 2. The inadequacy of manual dosing in the existing systems increased the risks of corrosion, scaling, and microbiological contamination in the lines, negatively impacting process reliability and equipment lifespan.

To address these problems, Arpon's engineering solutions were chosen to establish an automated chemical dosing system.

Solution

Arpon proposed a fully automated, PLC-controlled chemical dosing skid system for this critical application. The system was equipped with the following components:

Lutz-Jesco brand Memdos Smart LAX series mechanical diaphragm dosing pumps.
Automated sampling panel (Topax MC) that measures pH, conductivity, and ORP values.
IBC chemical tanks and spillway basins
Leak-proof system design with AISI 316 stainless steel lines and tubing connections.
Integration of PLC-controlled control panel with SCADA and DCS systems.

The system was designed and installed to directly dose into 200 m³ reinforced concrete tanks located in continuous casting lines.
