Situation

Karafiber is a factory that produces lyocell fabric fibers and operates with a closed-loop process system. Strong chemicals such as solvents and hydrochloric acid (HCl) are used in the production process.
The company specified the need for air diaphragm pumps for HCl unloading and make-up applications. However, due to the highly corrosive nature of HCl, a pump material with a long service life and high durability was required.

In addition, the following criteria were important for air-operated diaphragm pumps:

  • Ensuring a long service life for wear parts such as the diaphragm, ball, and bearing.
  • Minimizing energy consumption (Air diaphragm pumps generally have high energy consumption)
  • Providing complete protection in terms of leak tightness and security.

Solution

Arpon engineers recommended the Verderair PURE series pumps, which are made from solid (billet) material and are much more robust and long-lasting than conventional air diaphragm pumps.
Because these pumps are machined from solid PTFE material, they have a much longer lifespan than injection-type pumps and offer maximum resistance to aggressive chemicals such as HCl.

The pump's air valve structure is unaffected by oil, ensuring more stable and trouble-free operation.
It reduces operating costs by providing 20% lower energy consumption compared to conventional air diaphragm pumps.
